A Handmade Holiday and a Happy New Year

3 Jan

Happy New Year Wolfies!

First resolution of the year is to update our blog and make it more active this year. Sometimes we get so busy this blog gets neglected but we will change that..starting now! Let’s just recap the last few months in a (somewhat) organized fashion:

One of A Kind Christmas Show (Nov 24-Dec 04, 2011)

This was our first time doing the entire OOAK Christmas show, and it was great! The set-up of our booth actually took the longest it has EVER taken us (2 days, 5 hours per day). During set-up we always like to goof around a little. This was our home for the next 11 days. We also entered the Coffee Cup competition that they have for vendors every year. You can see our rendition of a coffee cup made out of materials that we use – ripped up misprinted t’s and ink. The show turned out to be a lot of fun (we didn’t expect anything less). Please see our pictures below, and check out lots more pictures from the show in our facebook gallery!

As a side note, we have such awesome fans/friends. Many of them came to visit and we got a few little treats like, gift card to starbucks from the sweetest Humber crew, homemade muffins made by Maxine, chocolate and hand crocheted ornaments by Atomic Ami Gals, handmade christmas tree earrings by Christina, and Pies from Steph! <3 Thank you so much!!

Feel free to connect with us on our facebook or twitter accounts. We are real people, and we like to interact!

The week after the OOAK we went to City of Craft. This was definitely going to be a handmade holiday. We treated ourselves to a couple of Julie Moon Skulls, which we have coveted for so long. Sorry, I was trying for hours to separate the gallery into 2 parts, but it won’t go, so the pictures are all together. They have captions and descriptions though :)

The rest of the year was dedicated to keeping busy with holiday sales (best time of year!) and having fun. We had a very successful 2011, and hope that 2012 will be even better! We are so happy and grateful to everyone who we have met throughout the year, new friends and old. Crywolf is a big party bus, and everyone should hop on!

As for January, it has been the first sign of OLD MAN WINTER! and it’s minus 14 degrees (Celsius) today. Stay warm this winter with $10 bucks off all zip-up hoodies

10 bucks off all zip-ups for the month of january

Crywolf Flash Games pt II

13 Oct

You may remember a while back we posted a blog about some flash games that some students from our old high school, St Robert’s, had whipped up. Well, our old computers teacher, Mr. Keenan, has sent us two more and they are AMAZING! They are the two best of the final programs that used our characters. You can tell that they took a lot of time to make. Check them out:

Hero of the Crywolfs by Kenneth

AND

Shark Defender by Christopher

Aren’t they so well-executed and actually challenging? I had to play them a few times to win.

Last time we chose a winner and these two are so awesome that we need your help again. Let us know which one is YOUR favourite by voting on the poll on our facebook fan page. The student with the most votes will win a lil somethin-somethin! They worked so hard so please take a second of your time to cast a vote! The more votes, the better. Poll will close tomorrow – Friday, October 14th @ midnight.

Je t’aime Bicyclette!

13 Jul

One thing that we’ve wanted to do for a while, (but have managed to procrastinate on for quite some time) had been to post a feature about each of our retailers whom we adore, love, and thank for their support.

This round we will be featuring our newest retailer Bicyclette Boutique located in the west side of downtown Toronto at 880 Queen St. West (near Trinity Bellwoods).

Bicyclette Storefront

We took these photos the last time we went to make a drop-off earlier this summer. The store was so pretty and lovely to photograph.

They are carrying a wide selection of our tanks, as well as many other lovely brands, so if you want to take a look, stop by the shop and we’re sure you won’t leave empty handed!

Crywolf Flash GAMES!

8 Apr

Ah, high school. Seems like a hundred thousand years ago now. With all the time that’s gone by, thinking about it conjures up faint and random images of faces and memories: our unstylish uniforms, crushes, the confusing feelings of adolescence, teenage angst, old friends, crazy hair and cafeteria food that we still crave for sometimes. We were brought to ponder back on high school life when we were contacted a few months ago by one of our favorite teachers, Mr. Keenan. Rose and I were never in the same class but we both had Mr. Keenan for computers. Being computer geeks, we naturally loved computer classes and the jovial and less-uptight faculty that made up the department.

The reason for the contact was that Mr. Keenan had discovered Crywolf and was really proud of what we’ve done. To quote directly: “I was showing your site to my computer classes today and telling them how I taught you nothing and you still made something of yourselves.” For the record, we made tons of funny little Turing and Foxpro programs under his tutelage, so he taught us lots. I would say our interest in computers and learning to make things on them (ie. those programs, 0’s and 1’s, basic html to make obnoxious tripod pages about ourselves, etc) was actually pretty important in shaping an interest that we would one day use to create our own online store.

We answered some interview questions for the school paper and Mr. Keenan asked if the students could use some our characters in a final Flash project. Our response: HELLS YEA! So below, we would like to present you with 3 final flash games that some students came up with. Click to play. THEY ARE SO COOL!

Crywolf Memory Game by Azra Jessa

Muffin Madness Maze! by Janelle Singh

Catch and Avoid by Montserrat Martinez Soy

We said that we were going to pick a winner but they are all so amazing that we can’t choose just one. Help us out by letting us know which one is your favorite. We’ll be putting a poll up on our facebook fan page where you can vote so do it up! The student with the most votes will get a little something extra. They worked so hard so please take a second to cast a vote.

We have a WINNER!

7 Nov

Congrats to Christina Terzo Curcia and baby Mina for winning a killer Crywolf Halloween prize pack for being First Place in our Halloween costume contest!

We have to share the other submissions because they’re all pretty fanfreakingtastic:

Connie Kwok as a juicy Crywolf watermelon

Stephanie Hou as a Crywolf calavera

Mindy DeLisi's submission of a Spider Monkey... not really CW related but cute in a "I Like Turtles" sort of way

Britton as Sailor Wolf

Britton as Sailor Wolf

WOO. Thanks to everyone who participated, we thoroughly enjoyed all of your efforts!!!

In case you didn’t know, we are back from China! We had an AMAZING two weeks, an experience of a lifetime as you can probably imagine. Once we sort through our collective 5000 photos, we will do a huge update about our trip. Our intern Nicole did an A+++ job getting all of your orders out and keeping Crywolf from falling into an abyss of chaos! We may be battling a bit of jet lag but we are super busy prepping for the One of a Kind show at the end of the month and for the craziness that is Christmas time. On top of new things recently released, we promise some great holiday stuff to released this month.

Missed you wolfies!

Take Me Home

9 Oct

Last night we took a quick run downtown to bang off some errands. Our pal Steph kindly let us borrow her fog machine so we could take some creepy Halloween photos (will be posted soon) so we returned that to her and also dropped off a bag of old P0isson shirts to Xenia who has organized a really great clothing swap this Sunday at Mercer Union, check out the event details here! We would be going if we didn’t have Thanksgiving festivities to attend to.

While we were down we popped into Le Gallery where our friend Genevieve Jodouin was having an opening for her solo show Take Me Home. As usual, her work was beautiful. Once you step into the gallery you are surrounded by delicate screen-printed paper mobiles, spinning and twisting from the movement of people walking by.

See? Magical.

This is our friend Nick who we took a sneaky photo of while he was probably having an important conversation about art. He had some work in the group show The Maker which was taking place in the other half of the gallery. He is a pretty ok artist I guess, but you can see for yourself here (we kid, he’s amazing).

This is Genevieve looking cute. Congrats on your show girlfriend!

We got caught up in some traffic around Dundas square on the way home. Rose suddenly had the munchies for some street meat. We were barely moving so she got out to get one from the corner. I had only moved up a block by the time she got back, but alas, no hot dog in hand due to a crazy lineup. Moral of the story: Dundas street, you need more street meat vendors.

Summer 2010 Promo

2 Aug

First off, sorry for the slow updates lately! I have no idea where the summer went!!! June and July just zipped right by. We’ve been busy coming up with new ideas and products and right now we are starting to prep for the CNE, so this time of year is always a little wild! Now until Christmas will be busybusybusy.

The second week of July I spent up North for an annual family trip to Parry Sound. And by family, I mean almost my ENTIRE family. 10 people, 2 dogs. It was the first time both Rose & I were gone from Crywolf Headquarters but I managed to get some sewing done up there as well as take advantage of the nice scenery for some promo shots.

Check out the rest of the set on our Flickr.

On Thursday I’m headed out into the wilderness again for one last break before the madness really begins. While I’m gone, Rose returns from Texas and then we hopefully will see a bunch of you at the CNE where we’ll have a whole bunch of cool new stuff for ya! We’ll be posting the facebook event info soon.
